Questions people ask before they hire us.
Straight answers, no sales spin. If your question isn't covered here, ask us directly. We respond within one business day.
Timelines & Process
Our Starter (1-page) website typically launches within 1 week of kickoff. Our Business package (up to 5 pages) takes up to 2 weeks. Our Premium package (up to 10 pages, blog, and bookings) also completes in up to 2 weeks. We agree on an exact delivery date before work begins, and we hold to it.
The design phase includes two full rounds of revisions on all pages before development begins. Development includes one round of revisions after the staging review. Additional revision rounds can be added for a flat day-rate. In practice, clients who engage actively during discovery rarely need extra rounds — the brief is tight enough that the first design is usually 90% there.
Yes. Around 35% of our clients are based in the UK, Australia, Canada, and the EU. We work asynchronously and schedule overlap calls at mutually convenient times. We accept payment via bank transfer, card, and Wise for international clients. All contracts are written in English under California law unless otherwise agreed.
Pricing & Ownership
You do, 100%. On receipt of final payment, all intellectual property — every line of code, every design file, every asset — transfers to you permanently. It's written explicitly into our contract with no carve-outs. There's no proprietary system that only we can access, and no mandatory retainer required to keep your site running.
Standard third-party costs — hosting and domain registration — are set up in your name and billed directly to you. For most clients this is £20–50/month depending on traffic volume and hosting choice. These are costs you'd pay with any agency or DIY setup. Our optional monthly support retainer starts at £39/month and covers security patching, uptime monitoring, content updates (48-hour turnaround), and a monthly performance report.
50% deposit invoice on contract signing to secure your place in our production schedule. The remaining 50% is invoiced only when the project is fully approved by you and ready to go live — never before. If for any reason we fail to deliver the agreed scope, your deposit is refunded in full. We accept bank transfer, credit card, and Wise for international clients.
Yes, always. We never work on hourly estimates. After a discovery call where we understand your scope, we send a written fixed-price proposal covering exactly what's included, what's excluded, the delivery timeline, and the payment schedule. You only proceed if you're comfortable with everything in that document — there's no pressure and no expiry date on the quote.
Technical & Post-Launch
Yes, on Professional and Premium projects. We integrate a CMS — we typically use Sanity or Statamic — that lets you edit text, images, blog posts, and products without touching code. We provide a training session after handover and written documentation that covers every editable element. Starter projects can be upgraded to include a CMS for an additional flat fee.
All projects include 30 days of post-launch support at no charge. Any bug or functional issue found within that window is fixed same-day or next-day at no cost. After 30 days, critical issues for retainer clients are resolved within 4 hours under our standard SLA. For non-retainer clients, we offer ad-hoc support at a flat day-rate with a 48-hour response guarantee.
Yes, and we set everything up in your name — not ours. We recommend hosting providers based on your traffic and budget. We typically use Vercel, Cloudflare, or AWS depending on the project type. You have full admin access from day one. If you have existing hosting you're happy with, we can work with that instead.
Every WebSolutions project includes technical SEO as standard: clean URL structure, proper heading hierarchy, semantic HTML, meta tags, XML sitemap, and robots.txt. For Professional tier and above, we also implement structured data (JSON-LD schema), run a Core Web Vitals audit, and fix any crawlability issues before launch. We don't make ranking promises — no honest agency does — but we make sure Google can find, crawl, and understand your site correctly from day one.
We choose the right tool for the job — not the most fashionable framework. Most projects use vanilla HTML/CSS/JS or a lightweight framework (Next.js, Astro) depending on complexity. For e-commerce, we commonly use Shopify or headless Shopify Plus. For CMS, we favour Sanity or Statamic. For automation, we use a combination of custom Node.js services, Zapier/Make, and direct API integrations. We never use WordPress or page builders on client production sites.
